| THEN |
Our neighbours sparked our interest village history with these old photographs. The tallest building to the left of the
church is our house. We know that all the buildings which hide it and those behind the cross were demolished to make
way for the present barn between the two world wars.

| The view from our window 100 years ago. |

| 100 years ago the village had a shop and at least two bars, this was one. |

| La rue principale (Main Street ) |

| The school closed in 1970 |

| At the turn of the 1900's an open Lavoir was sited at the top of the village by the road junction. |

| The lime tree remains but the growth of other trees and hedgrows now obscure this view. |
About the same pictures taken in March 2009 about 100 years later.

| and NOW- the war memorial was of course erected after 1918 |

| The same view from our window 2009 |
The picture shows the row of buildings to the north of the church and it must have been taken from the front window on
the first floor of our house. These buildings remain roughly the same today.

| The bar has closed but otherwise the building remains the same. |

| The public space is now a garden. |

| The Maire with the school rooms now used as flats and village hall. |

| Looking in the opposite direction - the Lavoir is just a pile of stones. |
We are dateing the old pictures with the help of local
information. We know that electricity came to the village about 1910 so that any pictures not showing wires and poles must
pre-date this. It is said that the Lavoir was removed in 1947. Mains water was supplied to most houses in 1945 so
the pile of stones where the Lavoir was suggests that the picture above was taken after its demolition in 1947. Note the electricity
poles on the right.
